STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, GRIP INC., ex-SACRIFICE Men To Collaborate On New CD
January 2, 2002STRAPPING YOUNG LAD guitarist Jed Simon, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD/ex-DEATH drummer Gene Hoglan, GRIP INC. bassist Stuart Carruthers, and former SACRIFICE/current INTERZONE frontman Rob Urbinati are rumored to be joining forces in a new “death metal-type” project called TENET, which is scheduled to record its debut album later in the year. As-yet-untitled, the effort will reportedly be produced by STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mainman Devin Townsend and will possibly include an appearance by former TESTAMENT/FORBIDDEN axeman Glen Alvelais. In related news, Urbinati's INTERZONE, who also feature in their ranks former MONSTER VOODOO MACHINE/MUNDANE drummer Drew Gauley, ex-SACRIFICE bassist Kevin Wimberley, and ex-MONSTER VOODOO MACHINE guitarist Chris Harris, are continuing work on the material for the group's debut full-length CD, which is tentatively set to be recorded before the end of the year. The follow-up to 1999's Cydonia EP will feature the same thrash/speed metal style that the band is known for, but will contain “an almost jam session vibe”, according to the group.
